Project Overview

Period: 04/11/2025 – 03/11/2028

This project is a multi-site study of heat stress and work, focusing on how rising temperatures affect workers’ health, dignity, safety, and everyday lives. Through research across indoor and outdoor worksites in India, the project examines how workers experience heat, how they cope with it, and what prevents them from accessing basic protections such as rest, shade, hydration, ventilation, healthcare, and safer scheduling.
The project aims to develop practical, worker-centred guidance for businesses, policymakers, and civil society organisations. By bringing together research, field evidence, and stakeholder engagement, it seeks to improve protection from heat stress and support fairer, safer, and more dignified work in a warming world.
